What kind of stove to put in the bath: iron or brick

Whatever good is a log house, no matter how good it looks in terms of design, the stove plays the main role in its quality. It depends on the furnace how well the room will warm up, how much fuel will be spent on heating water and air, whether there will be enough steam in the steam room, whether it will be safe in the bath and even how long it will last a bath.

How to choose a stove for a bath

As a rule, either a brick or an iron furnace is installed in the baths. Both have a similar design - a firebox and the so-called ashpit, a tank for heating water, a chimney and a heater. But the principle of operation and service life of the bath stove depend on the material from which it is made.
Most often, the owners of the baths prefer the furnace of iron, primarily because it is much cheaper and it is much easier to install it. Its huge advantage is thatthat its construction is such that it is almost impossible to get rid of carbon monoxide, because the combustion products immediately go outside and do not enter the room. Metal warms up much faster than stone or brick, the bath is heated in a short time, but the metal stove cools down faster than a brick stove and its service life is less.
The furnace for a bath of brick will cost more than its metal counterpart, but it will last longer. In terms of operation, a brick furnace is more expensive, because it is more difficult to warm up than an iron furnace, but it also retains heat for a long time. If we talk about the aesthetic data of furnaces, then, of course, brick wins against iron. With the help of several types of this material, its various colors and design, stove-makers create real stove-masterpieces that can be safely called objects related to art rather than heating the bath.

Features of the installation of iron and brick stoves in the baths

The furnace in the bath of any material must be installed before the start of finishing works. Installation or laying of the furnace involves construction work, after which debris accumulates, the air becomes dusty, and concrete is used for laying bricks, which can get onto walls, ceilings or shelves.
To install a brick kiln, you will need more space than a metal one, and its exhaust system is much more voluminous. The fact is that for high-quality and rapid heating of the brick, hot air must pass through several so-called wells, built into the furnace body, and not immediately get into the street. For metal, however, only a hole in the wall or ceiling of the bath is required, where the exhaust pipe will be led out. But for the iron version, you will need a "pillow" of refractory material, which will protect the walls and the floor from heating and eliminate the risk of their ignition.
