We sew graceful slippers in 30 minutes!
In order to sew them, you can take a special pattern under the cut for printing on thermal transfer. Its use greatly simplifies and speeds up the process and reduces to almost zero all possible difficulties and mistakes in cutting details.
In addition to the pattern, you will need light felt to transfer the transfer, any suitable (I only had white today) felt for the insole and, my main inspiration for this week is the cork sheet. In this case, 3 mm thick. Well, glue, I liked most of all to use "Moment Crystal".
First of all we will translate the pattern to felt. Due to the fact that recently I began to ask more questions about the translation technology, I will allow myself to say a little more about it today.
First, we will need to place the pattern face down in felt and heat the iron to almost the maximum temperature. With a hot iron, we begin to carefully iron the sheet, without missing the edges of the corners.
In my opinion it is better to overheat the iron a little and notice during ironingthat the felt began to fuse (this is not an instant process and you will always have time to slightly loosen the heat, nothing terrible will happen), than to stroke everything with a cold iron and get a fragmentary translated image, thereby spoiling the pattern and the felt.
Let us stroke the whole structure for about a minute, then cool it to a slightly warm state and remove the top checkered layer of paper. The picture is translated.
Cut out the details of slippers without seam allowances.
Since I made the pattern as universal as possible, I adhered to the principle “better is more than less”. Therefore, at this stage of the work, I recommend trying it on at least approximately and if it turns out to be more than necessary, trim the sides, as shown in the photo. The size of the top and bottom, as a rule, there is no need to reduce, only in the case of slippers for the baby.
Patterns for both slippers are placed on a sheet of felt. It is not obligatory to take white any more, it is possible any color.
And we use the semicircular seam of the part. Only on the top edge.
Now we cut out the parts along the contour, getting a double top for future slippers.
Now we need a pattern for the insole. It is very easy to get. It is enough just to circle your foot on a piece of paper with a decent margin, or just take any ready-made slippers that you consider the most comfortable and circle the sole.
We only cut the insole, but do not cut it out. It turned out to be more convenient for me to sew in exactly this sequence.
Now we take the double top slipper. We take two approaches, starting each one from the middle of the sock.
By smetnomu it will be very easy to attach the top. After performing the machine stitch, you can pull out the running thread.
Now slippers with an insole can be cut, retreating 2-3 mm from the edge of the stitching. Do the same with the second slipper.
Now it's time to start the final stage. We will make the sole for slippers. After a variety of searches for suitable material, I stopped at the traffic jam. As practice has shown, this is a fairly easy-to-use material, very light. In the sock it is very practical, especially in the glued version. The cork has good cushioning properties and even a thin layer of it is sufficient to use the slippers comfortably.
We take glue and properly lubricate the bottom surface of the felt insole. The glue, among other things, perfectly stabilizes the plug, reducing its fragility and preventing the possibility of cracks in the bend in the future.
Glue the insole to the sheet cork. Cut it rough enough, just to be able to put the clips.
The cork is adhered well and quickly, after the glue tightly grips, you can remove the clips and cut the slippers along the contour of the insole.
You can stop at this stage of work, or additionally stitch the perimeter of the slipper on the sewing machine. The cork is sewn very easily, despite the thickness.
That's all, slippers are ready. In the next photo I tried to demonstrate that the cork glued to the felt is strong enough at the bend.
