People Are Freaking Out Over This Badass Pregnant Weightlifter
Sophie Guidolin is six months pregnant with twins, but that's not stopping her from making everyone else at the gym look like total fools. When she of a recent workout on Facebook, though, she made thousands of people furious with her.
Guidolin is an Australian fitness model who blogs about healthy living and has written several fitness and recipe books. She has two sons, and says she gained 28 kilograms (61 pounds) throughout each pregnancy. She overhauled her lifestyle after gaining all that weight, and has since won four fitness model titles.
Now, Guidolin is pregnant with twin girls, and is still keeping up her pre-pregnancy exercise routine. In a blog post, she says that before she was pregnant, she did high intensity training four or five times a week. Now, she trains when she can, but has to take longer breaks between gentler routines, and she's working with her obstetrician to make sure she's exercising in a healthy way.
But when she posted a photo of herself lifting a 30 kilogram (66 pound) weight Monday, she didn't expect to get flooded with angry comments. She toldThe Daily Mailthat it was mostly men telling her she shouldn't be lifting weights. "I had a man comment on my Facebook page saying that what I was lifting was considerably heavy — but considerably heavy to who? Him?" she said."To me, that's not a heavy weight. It all comes down to what's heavy for the individual and what they could lift prior to pregnancy." She's being supervised by her husband, a dietician and personal trainer, and only works out within her doctor's guidelines.
