How to choose a material to cover large surfaces

Numerous materials are used to cover large surfaces. The history of their application goes into the deep millennial traditions. Over the centuries, many different materials have been used, which allowed to achieve a variety of effects. The general characteristic of street coverage is that it must withstand the enormous stresses associated with the fact that the coating is constantly exposed not to thousands, and sometimes hundreds of thousands of steps daily. The most popular coatings that have stood the test of time have become paving slabs, various types of paving stones and expanded clay blocks that are used recently.

Unlike the first two, more natural materials, claydite blocks are obtained from foamed and then baked clay (claydite), from cement and water.Foam block is obtained from this compound during foaming and subsequent cooling. Fully processed with high temperatures, the shell of expanded clay granules provides a high level of strength for it, but the presence of voids in the material makes it very light. In essence, this is one of the varieties of so-called lightweight concrete. Ceramsite blocks with great success began to replace the previously very widely used cinder blocks. In composition, they are almost identical, but krumzit is more environmentally friendly, since it does not even include processed building and industrial slags. According to EU standards, expanded clay blocks are ecological.
Paving slabs are made of very different materials, the classic version is concrete pavement, as in expanded clay block, but completely dense, which allows it to withstand more loads. Truth and material from this becomes heavier and its greater proportion to the ground when water leaks after rains and melting snow creates the effect of subsidence of the tile, which is why it has to be repaired regularly. It is also made from natural varieties of stone, and in the decorative version - even from the most dense and solid varieties of wood. Concrete tile, the most common, is produced by vibratory casting, vibro-or hyper-pressing of a semi-dry mix.
Paving stones are hard surfaces, as a rule, they are varieties of hard varieties of natural stone, often rectangular in shape. The paving stones are up to about the same size and shape. The stone blocks pass only the most rough processing, not so strongly differing from a cobble-stone. However, it can be laid out already in a known order, getting an ordered regular pattern.
