5-Year-Old Behind The Wheel During A Scary School Bus Crash
A Merrimack, NH, mother is being charged with reckless conduct and endangering the welfare of a child after her 5-year-old son backed a school bus into a building on Thursday morning.
Bus driver Tiffanie Brown was going through a routine safety check with her sons, 5 and 8, when something went wrong. Brown told police that her youngest son had gotten into trouble while on the bus, but footage from inside the vehicle painted a different picture.

Brown had been outside of the bus, inspecting the lights. Her youngest was sitting in the driver seat, flipping light switches as his mother directed. Police say the boy must have hit the wrong switch or the gear, accidentally putting the bus into reverse. The runaway vehicle sideswiped several cars in the parking lot of the London Court apartment complex before crashing into a carport. At one point, the boy's 8-year-old brother was even being dragged along as he hung onto the door of the bus.
Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt in the crash. The boy's mother was arrested on Monday, but has since been released. She is expected to appear in court later this month.
